Beacon Announces 2022 Charity Support

We’re shining the light on Macular Disease and your Beacon Impatiens seed purchase can make all the difference in the world. Each year, PanAmerican Seed donates a percentage of its global seed sales of Beacon® Impatiens to a less-widely known charitable organization. For the 2022 garden season, we have chosen two foundations fighting low vision issues, such as macular degeneration – a disease that affects the eyesight of millions of people worldwide.

Spectrios Institute for Low Vision (Illinois, USA) and the Macular Society (United Kingdom) provide family support, fund raising and education empowerment for their members, all while investing in research toward improved treatments. Low vision is the loss of eyesight and vision capabilities that cannot be corrected through lenses or general surgery. Although it is not blindness since limited sight remains, low vision includes blind spots, poor night vision and blurriness. Many causes involve age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma and diabetes, but can affect people of any age.

Read our latest press announcement for full details about this year’s charity support.

In the spirit of bringing light – and happiness! – to gardens everywhere, we are committed to helping those in need. As we enter the third year of our charitable giving through sales of Beacon Impatiens, we are gratified to see the impact our customers and home gardeners are making through their purchases on the lives of so many fellow humans across the world.
