Market Update: Southeast Asia

What season are we in right now in Southeast Asia?

It is actually low season and many areas are experiencing drought, but the market is still thriving. Vinca, celosia and marigolds are what you’ll see during this time of year.

Here’s an update by market for this region:

The Philippines

In the Philippines, agritourism sites are planting new Celosia and Vinca Pacifica XP crops for the summer season.

Thailand

In Thailand, Celosia and Vinca feature prominently at wholesale growers, while flower parks are growing Angelonia and African Marigolds.

Vietnam

In Vietnam, our distributor successfully completed their first Interspecific Impatiens Solarscape® trial. We’re excited to be offering it to growers in this country this year.

The rainy season is almost upon us, which begins around May, so even less things are growing. This season lasts until September and once October hits, it’s back to the region’s high season. In October, our team is looking forward to seeing creative ways that flower park operators will use our products to design their landscapes to attract visitors.

Tourism is a major segment for ornamentals and flower seeds in Southeast Asia. We’ve trialed and introduced new varieties such as Cuphea Sweet Talk™ and Celosia Sunday™. We are looking forward to seeing more of them in flower parks this year.
