For 2023, the three awardees were:
Zinnia Zesty™ Yellow
The judges commended this highly impressive Zesty Yellow: “These gigantic doubles are perfect for a bright, sunny border or cut flower garden. The plants showed resistance to mildew.”
Interspecific Impatiens Solarscape® Orange Burst
At the UGA Trial Gardens, rising temps gave way to sunny and hot weather, but Solarscape Orange Burst stayed strong. “Plants are evenly matched with one another and covered with color,” said the judges.
Cuphea Sweet Talk™ Deep Pink
“This exciting new cuphea from seed creates a nice wave of color in the landscape or as a combo planter. Look out for this new crop in 2024!”
According to the UGA Trial Gardens, the Classic City Award is a collection of plants in different categories that have received the best ratings throughout the growing season from June through September…and are still going strong.
