Harvest Donated To Illinois Food Bank

This month, the HandPicked Vegetables team and volunteers harvested produce from our Elburn, Ill., field trials and donated the fruit to the Northern Illinois Food Bank.  We'd like to extend our sincerest gratitude to the nearly 100 volunteers (employees, friends and family) that came out to Elburn Saturday, Sept. 8 to help us make such a generous donation.

In addition to soaking up the lovely weather and general spirit, we are beyond excited to report that we donated 3,262 lbs. of fresh produce to the food bank. This would not have been possible without all the volunteers who took time out of their weekend to help. Thank you for your support and good will!

The event was organized by Natasha Grosskopf, Vegetable Trials Manager, and others on our HandPicked vegetables team. It was wonderful to see representation from across the company like IT, Research and Development, and many more, including our Leadership. We are proud to be part of an exemplary company that cares for its community.

Below is a brief message from Jacob, the Food Procurement Coordinator at Northern Illinois Food Bank:

“I wanted to reach out again to say thank you SO MUCH from myself, our driver Joe, and the entire Northern Illinois Food Bank team. Because of your hard work, planning, and generosity we were able to bring 3,262 lbs. of fresh, hand-picked tomatoes, peppers, and eggplant for our neighbors. I was personally so impressed with your facility and how efficiently the pick went. It was great to put faces to names and spend some time with the volunteers that came and went. Again, thank you for thinking of the Northern Illinois Food Banks and for thinking of our neighbors.”

We can’t wait to do it again next year!
