Chilean Seed Association Nominates 'Seed Hero' from Semillas PanAmerican
Gus Tassara Director of Global Production
The International Seed Federation (ISF) launched a #SeedHeroes campaign to highlight essential workers in the seed sector.
Semillas PanAmerican Chile is proud to announce that Ana Maria Silva Lucero was nominated as a “Seed Hero” by the Chilean Seed Association. As the supervisor at our Pichidegua facility, she has worked on pansies for PanAmerican Seed for many years.
“What I like most about my job is that every day I have the opportunity to learn, to work in a team, to form a family around seed production,” said Silva Lucero. “I would like future generations to love this profession, to be proactive and dedicated, so that flower seed production never stops.”
As part of the #ISF100Years celebrations, the ISF asked the community for submissions for 100 seed sector professionals from associations and companies. The organization describes these “Seed Heroes” as dedicated individuals who ensured that farmers and growers worldwide could access quality seeds, enabling them to produce healthy crops and provide nutritious food for all. The campaign was a tremendous success, showcasing the diversity within the global seed industry, including the variety of people, professions, roles, and types of companies and organizations involved.
