Highlights of PanAmerican Seed Dutch Spring Trials

Week 18 is known for the Dutch Spring Trials where PanAmerican Seed, together with eight other breeders, open the doors to show our New Variety assortment to growers, retailers, and the horticulture industry. The week is fully scheduled with interesting meeting with the focus on showing our new varieties. Above all, it is also the perfect moment to have fruitful discussion about trends, challenges, and opportunities in our industry.
One of our visitors, Michael Perry of the social media channel Mr. Plant Geek (@mr_plantgeek) quoted our Spring Trials as follow: “It was a concise professional trial, with some standout seed-raised items – in particular the plant for the future, cuphea!”
Which standout seed-raised items did we show?
Some of the standout items we showed this week is our exciting new Cuphea Sweet Talk™ series. If you are looking for a bloom-covered plan that is heat tolerant at the same time, then Sweet Talk is the real solution! It is a 3-colour series that drives pollinators wild and stays colourful all Summer long. Perfect for impulse sales!
Within our impatiens Beacon® series, known for the high resistances to downy mildew (Plasmopara destructor), we added the popular colour Lipstick, along with a bold new 3-colour mix called Pearl Island.
Our relatively new E3 Easy Wave® series, that fulfils sales earlier in the season because it flowers at or under 10 hours daylength, has been expanded with a Yellow variety and a new Sweet Taffy Mix. Besides that, we showed other line extensions for our most popular crops like begonias, zinnias, coleus and more.
Highlight trends
Next to showing our new introductions, we also highlighted our program called “Sow fast. Grow Fast.™”, a solution to fill your empty benches after peak season. Within this program we offer +113 varieties from seed that will be ready for sales in 10 weeks or less. Want to know more? Download our info sheet for more details. We also showed the strength of Beacon in any production schedule and all pot sizes compared to our old series Super Elfin.
