Fleuroselect Home Garden Conference Visits Venhuizen Location

Annually Fleuroselect organizes the Home Garden Conference for its members. This two-day event is filled with company visits, inspiring lectures by branch experts, and network opportunities. The ninth edition of the conference took place in The Netherlands, where the Fleuroselect group visited our PanAmerican Seed location in Venhuizen. The central theme of this edition was “Today’s youth, tomorrow’s future,” referring to the future customers and employees of the industry. The conference focused on how to attract more new-generation customers and increase the interest of a career in horticulture.

While enjoying a cup of coffee, stroopwafels (syrup waffles) and the sunny weather, the Fleuroselect group had the chance to admire what the garden of PanAmerican Seed has to offer. Various plants were shown in the garden including a Fleuroselect trial. Within this trial newly bred varieties are compared with commercial products. Successful new varieties can be rewarded with a Fleuroselect Gold Medal or Approved Novelty status.

Next to the Fleuroselect trial the garden was filled with well-known and new products. Beds with Dianthus Jolt, African Marigold Taishan, Spreading Petunia Easy Wave and many other flowers coloured the gardens. But also new varieties, such as Pansy Cool Wave Strawberry Swirl and Raspberry Swirl, Cosmos Sonata Purple Shades and Red Shades, and Coreopsis Double The Sun were present in Venhuizen.

According to Fleuroselect, the 2018 Home Garden Conference was a big success. Jean-François Ignasse, Sales Manager Europe at PanAmerican Seed and current Interim President of Fleuroselect, mentioned: “We were delighted to tour our Home Garden colleagues in our trial and speak with them. It is always interesting to hear their opinion on our varieties because it is the consumer’s view.”

The two-day event brought the participants new insights and knowledge. PanAmerican Seed was glad to welcome the Fleuroselect group for a visit of their Venhuizen location.
