A great option for Summer and Fall cut flower programs, Xochi delivers stronger stems and richer colors than competing varieties. Xochi means “flower” or “princess of flowers” and is a shortened version of Xochitl, an ancient Aztec word used in Spanish today, most commonly in Mexico. Xochi offers the uniformity, good shipability and durability to meet the increasing consumer demand for Dia de los Muertos and Halloween celebrations; good for use in bouquets and grower bunches.
Stem Length: 61 - 91cm (24 - 36")
Bloom Size: 8 - 10cm (3.00 - 4.00")
Harvest Recommendation: For shipping, harvest flowers when blooms are at 7 cm (2.75") in diameter. For local market, harvest stems when first flower is fully open.
Post-Harvest Recommendation: Take care when handling flowers to avoid snapping flower heads off of stems. Marigolds can be stored either wet or dry at 2-5°C (35-38°F). If storing wet, use a commercial floral holding solution.
Vase Life Recommendation: Marigolds have an excellent vase life of 10+ days.
