As Beacon Impatiens continues to deliver reliable garden performance with its high resistance to impatiens downy mildew and vibrant color for landscapes worldwide, its charitable giving program is also thriving.
The PanAmerican Seed® team recently joined customers, partners and community supporters at the Bradford Greenhouses 33rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament in Ontario, Canada.

Through the Beacon Impatiens’ “Beacon Shine the Light” charitable initiative, we presented the donation to this year’s organization, Roots for Youth - the primary charitable focus of the Bradford Greenhouses Family Trust since 2018. It is an organization that provides post-secondary education bursaries (scholarships) to young adults and teens who have experienced family hardships, helping them pursue educational opportunities and achieve their goals.
Funds were raised through Beacon Impatiens seed sales, consumer awareness campaigns, promotional T-shirt sales and additional fundraising efforts throughout the season. Roots for Youth Director and President Len Ferragine and Director and Secretary Jason Hemsworth have seen first-hand how bursaries can help young people pursue higher education and build brighter futures.
“We are extremely grateful to Beacon Impatiens, PanAmerican Seed and everyone who helped make this donation possible,” said Ferragine. “This partnership demonstrates the power of our industry and communities working together to create meaningful opportunities for young people.”
To be able to raise awareness and support for worthy charities through Beacon Impatiens is one of the most rewarding benefits of growing and promoting this product. Beyond the innovation and disease resistance these genetics bring to shade programs, Beacon helps growers, retailers and consumers come together to make a positive impact in their communities.
At PanAmerican Seed, we’re committed to our communities and our growers. We’re committed to offering amazing varieties and new colors, to developing stronger genetics and giving back to less-widely known charities through programs like Beacon Impatiens’ “Shines The Light” initiative.
